The Laramie High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) Association helped out at the Ag Appreciation Dinner put on each year to show appreciation for farmers and ranchers who contribute to the Ag community in Laramie.

Students from the Snowy Range FFA chapter dressed in their official uniforms to help serve at the dinner which was held at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center.

They welcomed guests, talked with them about their contribution to the ag industry, sold raffle tickets and helped run the silent auction.

“We walked around the tables while they were eating and asked them how they are doing and what they do in the ag industry,” Laramie FFA member Aspen Decker said.

The silent auction items were made by members of the Snowy Rande FFA chapter and the Rock Creek FFA chapter.

The items included a wooden bench and a table made by LHS and Rock River High Shcool students and items donated by the community.

“We helped carry out a table that we made…Rock River had kids from their chapter that made a bench and then Mary Louise sold some of her cheesecake which is super famous,” Decker said.

Funds raised at the dinner will be given to a charity and distributed to local agricultural and youth agricultural organizations.

Raffle tickets were sold to raise funds as well as silent auction and live auction items and money from the tables sold.

The event was put on by the Laramie Chamber Business Alliance to help bring together the rural and city communities of Laramie and Rock River.

Last year $14,000 was raised and then distributed to Albany County 4-H Club, Snowy Range FFA Chapter and Rock Creek FFA chapter, and scholarships were given to Ag students from the University of Wyoming.

Businesses around Laramie contributed to raising funds.

Individual tickets for the Ag Appreciation dinner were $85 for non members and $65 for Laramie Chamber Business Alliance (LCBA) members. Tables were $600 for members and $800 for non members.

If a table was bought then they would invite ranchers to sit with them at the event.

Members of the 4-H club, Rock River families. Centennial families and many people from businesses around Laramie came to the event.

The Ag Appreciation dinner begin at 6:30 and ended around nine o clock.
