Next Thursday, December 27th the Laramie High School girls basketball will compete at the Cabela’s Invitational in Sydney, Nebraska.

We are all very excited to see how this year’s team will perform,” senior Aubrey Rivers said.

This will be the girls first tournament of the year, and they are hoping to improve on their performance last year.

“We played in the same tournament last year and we did OK, but this year we are all hoping to perform a little better than last year.” Rivers said.

The Lady Plainsmen have been working hard and practicing everyday to get in the necessary training they need to have a successful season.

“We have been practicing very hard and working our tails off every day.” Rivers said.

This year’s team is lead by varsity head coach Rod Tyson. Coach Tyson is ready to lead this team to a winning season.

“Tyson is great and I love having him as our coach again.” Rivers said.

The girls first conference game is against Green River on January 4th at 12:30 am.

This year’s seniors are Jennifer Aadland, Audrey Rivers and Jaqueline Murdock.

“Yeah I can’t wait to have a big senior year and having the other senior girls along for the ride is great.” Said Rivers.

This year’s girls’ team will have some tough competition such Thunder Basin and South Cheyenne.

“We welcome all competition this year, we aren’t afraid of anybody. Our team is solid,“ Rivers said.

Last year’s Lady Plainsmen had an overall record of 17-18, but the Lady Plainsmen are hoping to accomplish a lot more this season. They believe Coach Tyson could lead them to the first state title since 2012.

“We definitely need more coaches with a winning mindset like Tyson,” Rivers said.
