Laramie High School girls swimming has 15 qualifiers for state, while staying undefeated in the 2018-2019 swim season.

“This is season we definitely have a chance to win, we lost some good seniors but have a good freshman class,” coach Tamara Bretting said.

The high school swim coaches strongly encourage the student athletes to stay healthy and strive for greatness.

With state still being a few meets away the Lady Plainsmen still have a chance for ten to twelve more girls to qualify for state.

“We are hoping we end up having 28 qualifiers for state,” Bretting said.

This season the girls are working hard to take the state title home in the dual meets. A dual meet is where an individual event is scored based on how an individual swims on a team.

Throughout the season the Lady Plainsmen will work to perfect the distance events which include freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly. Swimming is a sport that takes a ton focus and a want to win.

For many of the girls it is their senior year, the last year to take home the state title and give everything they have.

With hopes of staying undefeated the Lady Plainsmen have a home meet this week against Rock Springs, Jackson, and South.

A couple weeks ago the girls took on Jackson and need to be prepared for Jackson to come back fighting and ready to win.
