Last Friday and Saturday, the LHS Wrestling team traveled to Casper, WY. to participate in State Wrestling.

14 wrestlers from the wrestling team qualified for State and three of the wrestlers were within the top five spots in the state.

“I feel like we wrestled well,” LHS wrestling coach, Stuart Brinkman said. “Some guys didn’t play too well, and it ended up hurting them in the end.”

There were four sessions in the wrestling tournament, two on Friday and two on Saturday.

The top wrestler from the LHS was Zech Aguilar who got first place in the 4A-220-weight class and won a state title for his performance.

The second-best wrestler from LHS was Arsenio Lemes, who got third place in the 4A-132-weight class. The third-best was Isaac Sell, who took fifth place in the 4A-113-weight class.

The list of wrestlers that participated in state wrestling is as follows; Brody Demello, Isaac Sell, Easton Hawkins, Jose Rodriguez, Arsenio Lemus, Ryder Senior, Natnael Marrill, Ethan Short, Grant Howell-Perkins, Price Campbell, Calvin Webb, Andrew Hernandez, Zech Aguilar, and Zach Heil.

LHS took the last place in the event with an overall score of 67 points, only one point behind Rawlins.

The top group of the 30 participating schools was Moorcroft with a score of 273 points. The closest school behind Moorcroft was Star Valley, with 267 points.

The LHS wrestlers hope to improve for next year’s state wrestling tournament.
